On Saturday 14 December 2024, a joint commemorative ceremony will be held to mark the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, at the Luxembourg American Cemetery in Luxembourg-Hamm.

Registered members of the public are invited to attend the commemoration, which will take place on Saturday at 10:00 at the American military cemetery in Luxembourg-Hamm. Available spots filled up quickly, with none left at the time of writing.

The commemoration will take place in the presence of Luxembourg’s Grand Duke Henri, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, Prime Minister Luc Frieden, the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) and the US Embassy in Luxembourg.

Other guests at the commemoration include: the Belgian King and Queen, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, the Belgian Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo, the representative of the presidential delegation of the United States of America, Bill Nelson, Head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA, as well as delegates from the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate. Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge will also be present.

Moreover, the ceremony will bring together members of the Chamber of Deputies (Luxembourg’s parliament), the government, the Council of State, the judiciary, local mayors and politicians, representatives of the European institutions, the diplomatic corps accredited to Luxembourg, as well as patriotic associations and the Committee for the Remembrance of the Second World War.

The access road to the American military cemetery in Hamm will be closed on Saturday. A free shuttle service will be organised for registered attendees.

The commemoration will continue in Bastogne, Belgium, on Saturday afternoon.
